The project, carried out in North Teesside, saw Cyberhawk examine the quality of welds for the entire internal surface of the oil storage tank.
Usually this type of inspection is conducted by rope access technicians who are suspended on ropes to inspect the internal structure. UAVs were selected as the preferred method of inspection, primarily to reduce safety risks posed to personnel working at height as well as the restrictions associated with working in confined spaces.
Having completed the world’s first internal tank inspection late 2015, Cyberhawk was tasked with a further internal tank inspection by a leading chemical manufacturing company.
