Drone inspection takes just one day per tank compared with traditional access techniques which take around seven. This speed of inspection means personnel are in the tank for the minimum time.
Drone captured data can be examined back at a desk where asset teams can identify areas requiring more tactile inspection, maintenance or repair. With specific areas to focus on, this again means IRM personnel spent no longer inside the tank than needed.
Using drone data, we can create a 360 degree model of the tank which can be viewed from various levels. Specific buttons are used to identify areas of interest and hotspots, from which detailed, close visual imagery van be viewed. Not only does this avoid unnecessary mobilisations, but also gives office-based staff a contextualised view of the tank.
