Cyberhawk is delighted to see the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) launch the Industrial Drone Operations Training Standard, a new course which trains drone operators to undertake aerial activities safely and efficiently around industrial sites.
With ten years’ experience in operating drones on industrial sites around the globe, Cyberhawk played a key role in the development of the standard, the first of its kind in the UK. Cyberhawk’s technical experts have produced a syllabus which includes practical flying skills for industrial applications, planning processes, safety management and responding to emergency scenarios.
The pioneering training and competency programme will assess drone operators against industry-approved requirements and ensure pilots meet the specific competencies required to work in industrial environments.
Chris Claydon, chief executive of the ECITB, commented: “There is no doubt we are on the cusp of a major shift in work practices with clear practical and financial benefits that means the use of drones will become the norm across the engineering construction industry. This is a trend the ECITB has identified, and why we’ve delivered this rigorous new technical training standard that is recognised and valued by employers.”
It is extremely encouraging to see drone technology being adopted more and more and we’re pleased to have drawn upon our wealth of experience and lessons learned in this field to support the creation of this new standard.
