Our story began in 2008 on the oil platforms of the North Sea, where our founders — engineers and rope-access specialists — spent years scaling flare stacks and confined towers.
Observing first-hand the difficulty and danger of gathering inspection data, they asked a simple, yet radical question: what if we could send a drone instead?
From that idea, Cyberhawk took flight as the first company in the world to use unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for live industrial inspections.
More than 35 world-firsts later, we’ve proven that safety, precision, and operational efficiency go hand-in-hand. What started as an act of engineering pragmatism became a global mission to make industrial work not only safer but smarter.

Our
executive team
Chris is the visionary of Cyberhawk. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of our industry having led many of Cyberhawk’s early 'worlds firsts' on projects around the globe.
As an Inspection Engineer, Chris has worked extensively in Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Mining and Utilities around the world.
Prior to the founding of Cyberhawk, Chris was responsible for the asset integrity of The Chevron Captain platform and Floating Production Storage and Offloading in the North Sea, and planning and executing inspection strategies to extend the life of these assets.
Chris now lives in the USA with his family, and is based in Denver, Colorado. In his free time, he seeks adventure by efoiling and snowboarding.
Much of John’s career was spent in blue-chip fast-moving consumer goods companies, including Diageo, Mars, Scottish & Newcastle, and Heineken, in a variety of increasingly senior finance roles supporting both supply and sales sides of the business.
John spent 4 years as Chief Executive Officer of a leisure trust managing over 30 sporting venues and employing 750 staff. John followed his passion for cycling by joining Endura, a Scottish cycling apparel company, as Finance Director during which time he oversaw the trade sale of Endura to Pentland Brands, owner of Berghaus, Speedo, Canterbury, Ellesse and many other sports and outdoor brands. He joined Cyberhawk in 2019 as CFO. Since then, the company has continued to grow at an average rate of over 34% per annum.
John is well travelled, having squeezed in not one, but two gap years in his earlier life, and has also lived and worked in Sydney, London and Lisbon.
Before starting his career in finance, John gained a Bachelor of Accountancy, with Honours, from Glasgow University.
During his spare time, John will usually be lost somewhere in the Scottish hills either on foot or on bike.
Throughout his career, Matt has focused on driving business process changes with technology innovations in energy utility operations to address reliability and workforce efficiency.
Matt’s career highlights include establishing and executing strategy at a corporate level, aligning business line objectives to the corporate strategy, and tactical execution of strategic objectives at Fortune 500 companies including IBM, ABB and Xcel Energy and, most recently, as Chief Commercial Officer for Cyberhawk.
In 2013, Matt was appointed vice chairman of the Board of Directors for the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) and he has also served on the CleanTX Economic Development Board of Directors.
Matt holds a BS in Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
In his spare time, Matt can be found charging down a mountain on a snowboard or charging up a mountain during extreme obstacle course races.
Nick is a self-proclaimed ‘excitable geek’ and has had a varied career over the past 20 years, having previously worked in banking, telecoms, government sector, and IT consultancy. In addition, he has also built applications such as a mission support system for NATO, a tax portal for the Irish Revenue, a global NPS system for Vodafone, and a bank risk rating application for Bank of Scotland Corporate. For the past 8 years, he has been leading the team delivering the Cyberhawk iHawk™ web application platform.
Nick holds a Bachelor of Engineering, with focus on Electrical and Electrical Engineering, from the University of Edinburgh. He is also certified and practices the PRINCE2 approach, Projects in Controlled Environments, to building software.
In his spare time, Nick likes to play football, go skiing, and work on his home automation.
Phil joined Cyberhawk in early 2010 as part of the founding management team. Prior to joining Cyberhawk, Phil spent 5-years as a Consultant Engineer solving challenges in the energy, transport and defense sectors.
Before becoming COO, Phil led the finance and sales functions at Cyberhawk helping to introduce drone-enabled technologies and software to multiple industries and blue-chip companies.
Phil holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Nanyang Business School in Singapore, is a Master of Science in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.
Phil’s main passion outside work is football. If he isn’t watching his kids play football, he is playing football himself, or watching football on TV.
